Q CELLS Senior PV Engineer explains the importance of offering customers the very best in solar technology

Senior PV Engineer, Nick van Weeren, details how Q CELLS provides customers the best expert service by continuously upskilling and monitoring trends in solar technology.

Nick has worked at Q CELLS for over three and a half years and is part of an expert four-person team in the engineering division. As the team is rapidly growing, Nick explains balancing his interest in solar with a team that thrives on growth and providing the latest in solar technology to a demanding market.

Q CELLS supply their customers with the very best, cutting-edge technology currently on the market, so it’s important that the faces behind this technology know absolutely everything there is to know, ensuring that the customers are continuously receiving expert service at all times.

Q CELLS Champions Solar Technology in Australia With Expert Service for Customers

Q. How important is it to constantly learn about new technologies in the solar industry?

Learning about new solar technology is of the utmost importance; we always need to be constantly trained to the highest level possible to offer our customers the best service.

The technology in solar is always changing and developing. So, we need to be able to communicate that to our customers as well as allowing them to differentiate our products from our competitors.

To a homeowner, two solar modules might look exactly the same, but the technology behind it and how reliable it will be is going to be totally different depending on the manufacturers.

From a consumer’s standpoint they might not be able to pick the better-quality module, so it becomes very important to always be on top of the latest solar technology. This includes covering both of what we have now and what’s coming in the future.

And that’s exactly what Q CELLS offers: expert service with a continuous outlook on providing the market the best, most innovative products available.

Q. What are some of the trends you are currently seeing in the solar industry?

Most manufacturers are now moving to half-cell modules with a lot of consideration for PERC technology. So, rather than being a proportion of production, people are moving to almost completely PERC cell modules.

This offers the consumer a considerable advantage: in short, providing a higher power class module. These high efficiency modules mean there will be more power from the same area.

In addition to the technology trends in manufacturing, I think people are starting to understand solar a lot more and are beginning to ask what technology lies behind each product, and what sort of testing has been done. Consumers are becoming much more knowledgeable about what they want, be it half-cell or PERC technology.

Q CELLS Australia offers both PERC-based and half-cell products. The latest, award-winning Q.PEAK DUO-G5 solar module from Q CELLS is sure to impress thanks to innovative Q.ANTUM DUO technology.

Q.ANTUM‘s world-record cell concept has now been combined with state-of-the-art circuitry, half cells and a six-busbar design, achieving outstanding performance under real conditions − both with low-intensity solar radiation and on hot, clear summer days.

Leading the Charge of Solar Technology For All Australians

Q. Are Q CELLS championing new technology in light of recent innovation and solar trends?

At Q CELLS, we make sure the quality of all our products is at 110 per cent.

We were one of the first to market with a half-cell module considering the increasing popularity of the products in the market today. I would say we are at the front of the technology curve, championing the solar industry for all our customers.

As for PERC technology, it was more of a premium three years ago, whereas now it’s more mainstream. So, it’s great to know that Q CELLS is a leading voice in bringing new solar technology to market.

Q. What’s the biggest difference you’ve notice in your time since working with Q CELLS?

I think customers and consumers are becoming more knowledgeable. So, we are getting a lot more technical and meaningful requests. Which is fantastic because it means that we can always offer the customer the best possible product to match their needs.

As the customer becomes more aware, they really want to make sure that they are getting high-quality products with long warranty periods that are considered assets and won’t fail over time.

The solar industry is developing very fast and is still quite young. A lot of this is down to the large technology shift to the majority PERC and half-cell outputs.

There’s also the challenge of cheaper products and consumers being told all solar modules are the same. But that’s where it comes down to us being able to train our sales team and teach our customers about how to better differentiate modules.

Geoff purchased 24 Q.PEAK DUO G-5 325W modules, totalling 7.8kW, and is estimated to save approximately $1,300 in his first year in energy bills with the overall product payback period totally approximately 5.2 years.

Q. Where do you think the industry will head in the next 5-10 years?

I think customers and consumers are becoming more knowledgeable. So, we are getting a lot more technical and meaningful requests. Which is fantastic because it means that we can always offer the customer the best possible product to match their needs.

Q. What’s your one piece of advice to someone who is thinking about going solar?

I’d say to make sure they do their research and choose a quality product from a reputable company that includes a comprehensive warranty policy.

It’s important to also look at the local team and service support set-up in the event that something should go wrong.

On top of that you need to choose a reputable installer, choosing the best product but having it installed poorly isn’t ideal either.

Luckily enough, Q CELLS has all of that: award-winning, high-quality products, with longstanding honoured warranties with products that are installed by our trusted expert Q.PARTNERS.
