Q CELLS Proves It’s Capable Of Getting the Best From Australia’s Harsh Sun Through Its Proprietary Yield Security

When it comes to building solar cells that can handle Australia’s harsh conditions, Q CELLS’ patented technologies are delivering the world’s best yield security under real conditions as recent performance tests reveal.

PERC solar cells, which have been increasing in popularity due to their higher electricity yields when compared to conventional solar cells, now comprise around 25% of all new solar panels being produced for the residential and commercial market in Australia – with projections of being 50% by 2020*.

Q CELLS, through its proprietary PERC technology called Q.ANTUM, has pioneered the ability to overcome some of the limitations of PERC technology, including protection from certain types of degradation likely to occur in Australia’s harsh climate.

At the core of this offering is a bundling of technologies under the umbrella Q CELLS dubbed, “Yield Security”. Purposely designed to handle the kinds of extreme temperatures and burning sun that is typical in areas right across Australia for their lifetime while also providing consumers a guarantee of their abilities that is backed in the standard warranty.

Hanwha Q CELLS’ Director of Technical Marketing Support, Maximilian Schurade, that because Q CELLS panels undergo a rigorous testing procedure at the company’s R&D Headquarters in Germany, they are engineered to achieve great, long-term results under Australia’s harsh sun is a central part of the company’s commitment to research and development.

Schurade explains: “Q CELLS is proud to be at the forefront of such solar technology innovation as our Yield Security on all Q.ANTUM products ensures that Australian consumers are achieving the highest possible energy yields.’’

Yield Security is a group of five separate technologies pioneered by Q CELLS that together act as a guarantee of maximum performance and product protection in Q CELLS’ proprietary Q.ANTUM technology. The measures to protect against three types of common degradation found in (Potential Induced Degradation), Anti-LID (Light Induced Degradation), and Anti-LeTID (Light and Temperature Induced Degradation) that can lead to power losses.

The other two features include a traceable unique ID marker on each individual solar cell, known as TRA.Q, that traces each step of production and can be used to demonstrate a genuine Q CELLS solar cell from a fake as well as monitor each process during manufacturing to further analyse and optimise quality and production. Another feature of Yield Security is called Hot Spot Protect that uses an infrared camera to ensure that 100 per cent of all Q.ANTUM solar cells are free of material and process defects which could lead to dangerous hot spots.

‘“We take great pride in being the only solar module manufacturer that offers 100 per cent traceability of cells,’’ Schurade continues.

“That’s why Q CELLS has spent over 12 of its 20 years of presence in the industry focusing on its Hot-Spot Protect, Anti-PID and Anti-LID and LeTID-Technologies to deliver the highest possible service and energy yields under real Australian conditions.

‘’Yield Security is a guarantee to consumers that their Q CELLS Q.ANTUM products will perform in Australia’s harsh climate. This is an entirely unique bundling of innovative technologies amongst manufacturers that entirely benefits the end user.’’
